The first round of the European Individual Women Chess Championship started at 4 p.m. in the Anatolian Hotel in Gaziantep. 105 players from 25 countries participate in the event. The first games appeared to be not easy ones for the favourites and the first round has already brought some surprising results. The first day became unfortunate for Georgian top women players as the second number of the starting list Nana Dzagnidze was defeated by WIM Gulnar Mammadova, as well as another top player Bela Khotenashvili who lost the game against Inna Ivakhinova. |

The event was attended by such honourable guests as FIDE Vice-President and President of TCF Mr. Ali Nihat Yazici, Secretary General of the European Chess Union Sava Stoisavljevic, players and other official guests. |

The technical meeting: Anna Muzychuk chose black pieces |
The technical meeting of the European Women Chess Championship took place in the playing hall in Anatolian Hotel at 10.30 a.m. The Chief Arbiter Erdem Ucarkus, the Secretary General of the European Chess Union Sava Stoisavljevic, the director of the event Melih Sagit and the players discussed the regulations and the tournament conditions.
The Chief Arbiter Erdem Ucarkus drew the attention of the participants that according to the rules players will not be allowed to agree for draws until the 40th move has been played. He also reminded of "zero tolerance" rule which require chess players to be seated at their boards when the games are scheduled to start and dress-code rule which is described in the regulations. |

The Government of Turkey and the Turkish Chess Federation (TCF) and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality have the honour to invite all the ECU member Chess Federations to participate in the European Individual, Rapid and Blitz Women's Chess Championship 2012 which will take place in Gaziantep, Türkiye, from 1st March (Arrival) to 19th March (Departure) 2012.
1. ORGANIZERS
Turkish Chess Federation, by the sponsorship and support of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, under the auspices of the City of Gaziantep and the European Chess Union. 2. VENUE AND DATE
The three Championships (2012 European Individual Women, 2012 European Women Blitz, 2012 European Women Rapid) will be held in Gaziantep from March 1st (day of arrival) until March 19th (day of departure) 2012. Opening and closing ceremony and matches will take place in The Anatolian Hotel Gaziantep.
3. PARTICIPATION
The 13th European individual chess championship for women is open to all players representing the Chess Federations which comprise the European Chess Union (FIDE zones 1.1 to 1.10) regardless of their title or rating. There is also no limit of participants per federation.
