Rapid Championship: three leaders after day 1
frontThe European Individual Women Rapid Chess Championship started on 15th of March 2012 in Gazientep. 46 players take part in the event. Six rounds was sceduled for the first day and five more rounds will be and Nana Dzagnidze, Alexandra Kosteniuk and Tatiana Kosintseva are leading in the championship. Turkish player Betul Yildiz has 4 points after 6 rounds and shares 5th place. She managed to win against Nino Khurtsidze and Lillit Mkrtchian in the last two rounds and shows 2585 performance. European Champion Valentina Gunina has 3,5 points and shares 15th place.

The technical meeting of the European Individual Women Rapid Chess Championship took place in the playing hall in Anatolian Hotel at 9 p.m on 14th of March. The Chief Arbiter Erdem Ucarkus drew the attention of the participants that players may offer draws any time according to FIDE rules and "zero tolerance" rule will be not used for Rapid and Blitz championships.

The top-rated player of the tournament Anna Muzychuk came to the table for drawing of lots and was proposed to choose any of two boxes with white and black pieces. Anna Muzychuk selected a box with white piece for Rapid and black piece for Blitz tournament.

Nana Dzagnidze defeated Maria Muzychuk in 25 moves in the sixth round and shares the first place.

Tatiana Kosintseva won against Anna Muzychuk.

The game between two former world champions Alexandra Kosteniuk and Antoaneta Stefanova
finished on favor of Russian player.

Turkish player Betul Yildiz shares the 5th place.
