Round 10: Anna Muzychuk is one point ahead
frontAnna Muzychuk continues to lead in the EIWCC. She won the fourth game in a row against defending champion Viktorija Cmilyte and one round to go the top-runner keeps one point distance from the nearest pursuers. Two Russian players Valentina Gunina and T. Kosintseva share the third place before the last round after Gunina made a draw against Katerina Lahno and Tatiana Kosintseva defeated Antoaneta Stefanova. Nana Dzagnidze, who started the tournament slowly and had 50% after 5 round, scored 4,5 points in last 5 rounds. Georgian player joined the group of seven players who share the fourth place with 7 points before the last round.
The final results of the tournament depend on the outcome of the games on the first five boards. Anna Muzychuk, who has Black pieces against Valentina Gunina, needs to make a draw to become the European Champion. According to FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 14 players will qualify for the World Cup. The 11th round starts at 11 a.m. local time and promises to be spectacular.

Antoaneta Stefanova didn’t play precisely in the middle game and let her opponent to gain an advantage. Tatiana Kosintseva managed to win and shares the second place before the last round.

Playing Black Elisabeth Paehtz got quite comfortable position after the opening. The idea to move the king to the king’s side was not the best choice as her opponent Thanh Trang Hoang managed to create a successful attack on Black`s king.
